Space Technology in Sudan

Since 2011, the Sudanese Society for Astronomy and  Space science Society (SSASS) is Interest in astronomy and space science and the universe to play a role in the dissemination of science as a springboard for efforts to complete the Sudanese humanitarian priority for the dissemination of science and upgrading the knowledge and humanity defeat illiteracy in science and the universe and members in the community Sudanese. Overview of activities in Sudan for young people

Space related activities commenced more than five decades ago, however, in Sudan these activities are still in their first steps. The governmental space program is mainly represented by the Remote Sensing Authority and the Sudan Institute for Natural Resources. The Remote Sensing Authority has been cooperating with the General Organization of Remote Sensing of Syria (GORS), the Inter Islamic Network on Space Science and Technology (ISNET), and the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmospheric Research Commission (SUPARCO). It is also a member of the Arab Remote Sensing Union and the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.

There are some societies and departments dedicated to space and astronomy in Sudanese universities. Due to high demand for geoinformatics studies, many universities have established faculties and departments to give academic degrees of B.Sc. and M.Sc. including the Future University and Sudan Academy of Science. Future University has established a space research center and Faculty of Geoinformatics which is considered the first specialized faculty in Sudan, and they have many research and awareness activities targeting youth.
